In the series WHAT THE F### … IS IT WHAT YOU DO ????”
When I got the assignment to fly to Switzerland to photograph Fernando Christian I took of with just a camera, one lens and a tripod. I decided to work as minimalistic as possible after reading and discussing his positioning.
He grew up in very basic circumstances in the rural mountains of Switzerland, and lives with his wife in a beautiful wooden cabin at a Swiss lake. I wanted to portrait him as close to nature as possible using only natural light and surroundings. To much equipment would just distract him (and me) from the goal we are trying to achieve.
I don’t press people into things, and am very aware of the crazy circumstance I put my ‘subjects” in. Being photographed is for people, who are not professional models, a very surreal experience. All my portrait shoots are in it’s base creating the right circumstances by managing time and atmosphere. To go into depth with somebody you need time ‘to get the feel for each other’. From here you can start harvesting.
Christian and I went 2 days for walks, talks and food. From this I found the right approach in the pictures, and that’s how we made the story for his websites and his communication for the future. And again we had great fun doing it.
Here just 2 of the pictures, lot’s more you can see on Fernando’s websites.
