IN THE SERIES WHAT THE F### … IS IT WHAT YOU DO ????”
My assignment to portrait Joe Kennedy I loved immediately.
The guy developed a super successful method to help children with learning disabilities like Dyslexia, ADS, ADHS and dyscalculia. So me as a left-hander, that was forced to write right-handed , (with all the symptoms that come with that package) , was triggered.
I spent 2 days in Tuttlingen at the river Donau, and Joe was a perfect model and super easy to work with.
After the first day of shooting portraits I stayed in my campervan at the banks of the Danube river and let the whole day pass my mind. It was a great day with lot’s of good shots, but somehow I had the feeling that there was something missing and that I had to change my approach to the whole shoot.
The next day got up very early in the morning and went for a bike ride along the river where I saw the children practicing track and field. Immediately new what was missing and how to tell Joe’s story. So that second day I concentrated much more in finding deeper layers in symbolism, so to get a different feeling in his storytelling.
When I found the wall with the smooth mosaic and the rough stones, the symbolism was so obvious for the work that Joe does with the children that I had to use it. We used the color-scheme of that wall for complete the design of Joe’s website.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Have a look at Joe’s Kennedy’s website if you wan’t to see more pictures or want to now more about Joe’s great work.
